Integrated cover sheet handling in practice with Baust cover sheet applicator

DonateWhen finished goods are transferred from a hygienic plastic or aluminum pallet to a wooden pallet after production, using a protective cover sheet is advisable. This additional protection between the goods and the pallet can also serve as load securing if a suitable anti-slip coating is applied. The cover sheet is individually removed from the stack using suction and placed on the respective pallet.

CollectDuring goods receipt, a change from external to internal pallets occurs for various reasons. To utilize the empty pallets for further processing or distribution, removing the old cover sheets using a cover sheet applicator can be beneficial.

In both cases, the position of the loading station is crucial for the cycle and the space requirements of the entire system.Depending on individual project requirements, the cover sheet applicator can be positioned in front of or behind the pallet changer. Additionally, it is possible to integrate both machines.

We recommend the cover sheet for 40 to 60 cycles per hour.

Cover sheet applicator for automatic palletizing systems

Our top sheet is a key component in modern material flow systems and significantly contributes to the quality assurance of palletized goods. Especially with sensitive products from the pharmaceutical or food industries, the varying surface quality of wooden pallets can lead to damage. A top sheet between the load and the pallet prevents this, avoiding direct contact between the goods and rough wooden surfaces or protruding nails.

Our machines achieve a throughput of 40 to 60 cycles per hour in fully automated operation. The design incorporates electrically driven lifting and traversing axes as well as pneumatic cover sheet clamping. This combination ensures precise and reliable handling of various cover sheet materials such as cardboard or plastic. The system can be loaded either by forklift or via integrated conveyor technology, allowing the cover sheet applicator to be flexibly integrated into existing production lines.

Protect and secure goods reliably with a cover sheet dispenser

The use of a liner dispenser goes beyond mere surface protection and fulfills additional functions in the area of load securing. Liners with an anti-slip coating prevent the load from shifting during transport, thus minimizing the risk of transport damage. Especially with hygienic pallets made of plastic or aluminum, which are exchanged for wooden pallets in the outbound area, the liner creates a defined separating layer.

Application Function of the cover sheet dispenser Typical industries
Goods issue Donations of cover sheets on pallets Pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals
Goods Receipt Collecting and removing old cover sheets Logistics, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering
Pallet exchange Protection during palletizing All industries using hygienic pallets

Investing in a cover sheet dispenser pays off through reduced complaint rates and lower waste volumes. We offer a free initial consultation, including technical planning, where we analyze the specific requirements of your material flow. From consultation and design to installation and subsequent maintenance, you receive all services from a single source, without subcontractors.

Cover sheet overlay for automatic donation and collection of cover sheets

The versatility of our cover sheet applicator is evident in its dual functionality. In dispensing mode, the machine uses suction to pick up individual cover sheets from the stack and precisely place them on the pallet. In collection mode, used cover sheets are removed from incoming pallets and stacked for reuse or disposal. This bidirectional operation makes the cover sheet applicator an efficient tool for both inbound and outbound goods.

The standard dimensions for cover sheets are 800 to 1000 mm wide and 1200 mm long, although we can also produce other sizes upon request. The minimum weight is 267 g/cm² with a minimum thickness of 3 mm. The maximum stacking height, including the pallet, is 1500 mm, while the clearance height for goods, including the pallet, is up to 2000 mm. These technical parameters allow us to process common pallet formats according to European standards.

This is how the Baust cover sheet dispenser works in fully automatic operation.

The automated operation of our cover sheet dispenser is based on a PLC-controlled process sequence that requires no manual intervention. After the pallet is positioned in the work area, the lifting and traversing axis moves to the cover sheet stack position. The suction gripper picks up the top cover sheet, transports it to the pallet, and places it in the precise position. The pneumatic clamp holds the cover sheet in position during placement before the gripper retracts and the next cycle can begin.

    Technical parameter Specification
Offering 40 to 60 cycles per hour
operating mode Fully automatic PLC control
    Energy supply 4 kVA, 16A, 400V
    compressed air 6 bar, R1/2″
    Dimensions (L × W × H) 2700 × 1800 × 2900 to 3600 mm

Power is supplied via a 400V three-phase connection with a 16A fuse, requiring 4 kVA. A 6 bar compressed air connection is required for the pneumatic components. The compact dimensions of 2700 × 1800 mm footprint and a height of 2900 to 3600 mm allow for integration even in confined production environments. We can optionally configure the cover sheet dispenser to supply multiple positions.

Use cover sheet dispensers in goods receiving and goods dispatch

The strategic positioning of the cover sheet dispenser within the system significantly influences both throughput and space requirements. We offer three integration options that can be selected depending on project requirements. The cover sheet dispenser can be positioned in front of the pallet changer, behind the pallet changer, or integrated directly into the changeover station. The integrated solution saves floor space but requires careful coordination of cycle times.

In the outbound process, the cover sheet protects the finished goods during transfer from the hygienic pallet to the shipping pallet. In the inbound process, the cover sheet applicator removes used cover sheets from external pallets before the goods are transferred to internal pallets. This consistent separation of internal and external pallet cycles is essential in hygiene-sensitive industries such as pharmaceuticals and food processing. We support you from the initial consultation through engineering and process optimization to commissioning and subsequently offer maintenance and repair services for uninterrupted operation.
