Hybrid pallet changer

Changing, turning, and repalletending pallets – and then what? That's exactly what we asked ourselves, and hybrid solutions... Pallet changer developed. These pallet changers can perform several processes (jam, Rotate/Tilt & Slide) combine or zusätzlich They also fulfill other key functions for repalletizing.

Advantages of hybrid pallet changers:

  • Increased utility: Multiple processes or functions integrated into one machine
  • Space-saving solutionIn intralogistics, minimal footprint is combined with maximum performance.
  • Reduction of investment costsOne system combines all tasks instead of many individual machines.

The possibilities of the various hybrid combinations are virtually limitless thanks to our innovative engineers in the mechanical and electrical development department.

Case study PW 1000 H

The combination of pushing and pulling methods makes the PW 1000 H a hybrid innovation.

Application:

  • The basic push-pull method of the PW 1000 cannot always accommodate all loads and pallet types. So-called push-pull attachments for forklifts are known for palletless storage and loading. Engineers at Baust have developed a functionally similar attachment.
  • This special device allows the PW 1000 H pallet changer to also operate in a pulling mode. In this mode, a cover sheet or slipsheet is pulled between the load and the pallet using an overhanging tab. The load is pulled even more gently than when pushing from one pallet to another. There is no friction between the goods and the pallet.
  • The pulling method is ideally suited for all sensitive and unstable loads that cannot be clamped, turned, tilted, or pushed. Examples include yogurt cups and other dairy products in cups, eggs in layers of cardboard, and fruits and vegetables in open cardboard packaging.
  • The PW 1000 H's pulling device is opened and closed manually with ergonomics: A lot of functionality and engineering in a compact format. Further automation options are also available for the PW 2000 to PW 6000 models.

The gentle sliding process is complemented by the powerful clamping process.

Application:

  • Pallets and loads are often diverse, requiring multiple pallet wrapping procedures.
  • Pushing is particularly suitable for repalletizing sensitive loads that must not be tilted or clamped. Gaps in the stacking are not a problem. Source pallets (the pallet that carries the load before the transfer) with edges or protruding structures are critical.
  • A smooth surface on the source pallets is not necessary for clamping. This allows pressure-resistant and robust loads to be transferred to another pallet using the clamping function of the PW 2000 H.
  • The advantages of the sliding method are thus combined with those of clamping.

During the transfer process, the position of the goods on the pallet can be adjusted both lengthwise and crosswise. This significantly improves both pallet exchange during the transfer operation and centering.

Case study: Cover sheet handling

  • The cover sheet, or slip sheet, acts as an important separating layer, protecting the underside of the load from contamination or damage caused by the pallet.
  • But what happens to this commonly used slip sheet during pallet changes? Quite simply: it can remain on the source pallet or be attached to the goods. In the worst case, it can disrupt the process.
  • To prevent this, various cover sheet options can be integrated into the pallet changers to increase process reliability.
