BRV series
Punching inserts for particularly fast tool changes
Shorter batch sizes, less inventory, more efficient production. A clear trend in the metal industry, which Baust Stanztechnologie fully addresses with its BRV series. The stamping inserts are available in both a belt-driven version and a particularly powerful, motor-driven variant.
The belt-driven BRV punch insert
In the fully mechanical version, the BRV die insert is driven by a belt (coil). To change the coil, a pneumatic cylinder moves the tools apart so that the punches and dies are disengaged. This allows the new belt to be easily inserted between the tools. Even a quick change of the dies is possible in this position. Another special feature of the belt-driven BRV is the patented rotary mechanism. It is designed to keep the tools constantly synchronized. As a result, the tools can be easily closed pneumatically and immediately resume the die-cutting process, even at belt speeds of 60 m/min and above.

Punching insert with pneumatic tool opening directly from the manufacturer Baust
The BRV series from Baust combines precise stamping technology with a sophisticated design for industrial applications. A stamping insert with pneumatic tool opening allows the punch and die to be quickly separated using a pneumatic cylinder. This effortlessly feeds new strip material between the tools without time-consuming manual intervention.
Baust develops and manufactures all components at its German site. The robust construction, weighing approximately 350 kg, ensures stability at production speeds of up to 80 m/min. Companies in the metal, printing, and plastics processing industries rely on this technology for continuous perforation in steel, aluminum, and plastic sheets.
Belt-driven and motor-driven versions for your production
Baust offers the die insert with pneumatic tool opening in two drive concepts. The belt-driven version operates fully mechanically and draws its energy directly from the coil movement. This solution is particularly suitable for systems where an additional motor drive is neither required nor desired.
| feature | Belt drives | Motorized |
|---|---|---|
| Power unit | Fully mechanical via coil | Servo drive 400 V |
| Power | None | Up to 3,5 kW |
| Installation depth | Approx. 700 mm | Approx. 1100 mm |
| Application | Standard perforations | Complex hole patterns |
The motor-driven version features a servo drive with up to 3,5 kW of power. It offers enhanced capabilities for demanding punching tasks and variable speed control.
Fast tool change thanks to pneumatic tool opening in the punching insert
Modern manufacturing processes demand flexibility when dealing with varying batch sizes and product variants. The die insert with pneumatic tool opening significantly reduces setup times, as a compressed air cylinder with an operating pressure of 6 bar automatically moves the tools into the changeover position. Punches and dies can be exchanged in just a few minutes.
This design minimizes downtime and increases overall equipment effectiveness. Companies benefit from reduced inventory because small batches become economically viable. The patented mechanism keeps the tools synchronized throughout the entire tool change process, allowing for immediate resumption of stamping after closing.
Production speeds of up to 80 m/min can be achieved with the BRV punching insert.
The BRV series processes material thicknesses from 0,2 to 0,8 mm with strip widths between 20 and 100 mm. With a tensile strength of up to 550 N/mm², the die insert with pneumatic tool opening is suitable for demanding materials. Tolerances comply with ISO 2768-1 c.
Belt speeds of 60 to 80 m/min enable high output rates with consistent precision. The compact design, approximately 370 mm wide and 560 mm high, allows for integration into existing production lines. Baust supplies suitable service parts and special tools for specific hole patterns and applications.
Patented rotary mechanism for permanently synchronized tools
A key distinguishing feature of BRV die inserts is the patented rotary mechanism. This ensures that the upper and lower tools operate in constant synchronization. After opening for a tool change or coil replacement, the components immediately and precisely mesh together again.
This design extends tool life and reduces wear. Baust supports users with customized consulting, project planning, and engineering services.
