Rotation and tilting process on the pallet changer
Pallet changers using a rotary and tilting mechanism are particularly suitable for bagged goods, barrels, or overhanging goods – in other words, whenever the goods are robust but not very stable. These machines also handle different pallet sizes and poor pallet quality without any problems.
Up to 40 pallets can be changed per hour. During the tilting process, two side walls secure the goods. The palletizer then tilts backward by up to 135°. This allows the pallet to be tilted back individually and conveniently exchanged at ground level.
Both methods are similar and can therefore be mentioned together. Rotary pallet changers and tilt pallet changers both tilt the goods around a specific pivot point.
The difference between the variantsIn the rotation method, the goods are turned 180° and are therefore upside down. In the tilting method, the tilt is only up to 135°. Both methods are generally used for less fragile goods, such as bagged goods, barrels, or cardboard boxes, as well as when there is an overhang of goods.

Palletizing with the right twist
With a rotary pallet changer, loading is done using a forklift or pallet jack, depending on the model. The pallet is held on three sides and then rotated 180°. This places the pallet on top of the goods, making it easy to exchange. The pallet changer then rotates everything back 180°. In some industries, the orientation of the goods is irrelevant. In these cases, the target pallet can be placed directly on top of the goods, and after just one rotation, the goods are literally upside down.
Pallet changer using the tilting method: The goods are tilted backwards by 92 to 135°.
Pallets are exchanged using the tilting method
Pallet changers using a tilting mechanism are loaded and unloaded using pallet trucks or forklifts – conveniently at ground level.
Two side walls secure the goods and tilt them backwards by up to 135°. The pallet is then tilted back separately and can be ergonomically replaced without having to place the pallet on top.
Procedure of the tilting process
The pallet can be ergonomically exchanged at floor level.
If the goods are robust but less dimensionally stable, a pallet inverter using either a rotating or tilting mechanism is often used. These pallet inverters are suitable for bagged goods as well as drums, big bags, and other goods with overhang. Whether a rotating pallet inverter or a tilting pallet inverter is better suited to your needs depends on your specific requirements. We would be happy to advise you!
With the rotary pallet changer, the pallet is held on three sides. The entire stack is rotated 180 degrees "upside down." This allows the pallet—now on top—to be easily replaced. In industries where the orientation of the goods is irrelevant, the new pallet can also be placed on top of the goods beforehand, and the entire stack can be removed directly after rotation by the pallet changer. In this case, only the old pallet needs to be lifted afterward. Additionally, it is possible to perform a 95° rotation to easily replace the empty pallet in a vertical position. Thus, Baust pallet changers combine maximum flexibility with simple and robust technology.
In the pallet changer's tilting system, two side walls and a top lid secure the goods and tilt them backwards by up to 135°. The empty pallet then descends for the changeover and can be ergonomically exchanged at floor level. It is then swung back against the goods and tilted back into its starting position with the load.
Both types of pallet inverters can be loaded and unloaded using either a pallet truck or forklift (PW Stand-Alone) or via a fully automated conveyor system (PW Inline). They can change up to 40 pallets per hour.

In the rotating process, the goods are held on three sides and rotated 180°, essentially turning upside down. This allows the pallet to rest on top of the goods, making replacement very easy. If necessary, damaged goods can be removed from the bottom layer of the stack during the rotating process. The entire stack is then rotated back to its original position. If the orientation of the goods is not critical, the target pallet can be placed directly on top of the goods, and the stack can be processed further after a single rotation. Baust offers both the tilting and rotating methods as freestanding, stand-alone units as well as for integration into conveyor systems. They can be loaded and unloaded using pallet jacks and forklifts. Call us, and we'll recommend the pallet changer that perfectly suits your individual requirements!
Our models for your application
The PW 600 is ideal for straightforward palletizing using a rotary process. This pallet changer handles pallets of various dimensions between 800 and 1000 x 1200 mm and a total weight of up to 1500 kg. The height can range from 500 to 2000 mm. This rotary pallet changer achieves ten to twenty pallet changes per hour. An automatic operation with access control is available as an option. Customers particularly appreciate our PW 600 in confined spaces. For integration into fully automated conveyor systems, the PW 600 Inline is available, which palletizes pallets weighing up to 1500 kg with a height of 1000 to 2000 mm.

Pallet changer with tilting mechanism
The PW 800 series pallet changers operate using a tilting mechanism and are available as stand-alone models, for use in material handling systems, and in an economy version. This PW 800 E model requires no side walls or pallet clamps and is suitable for goods that are stable against tipping. All of these tilting pallet changers feature a low-maintenance and quiet electric drive with no risk of leakage. As an optional extra, the tilting pallet changers can also handle different pallet dimensions and goods heights exceeding two meters. Various centering options are also available. Furthermore, a loading table with a lifting mechanism is available for this tilting pallet changer.
