Baust's installation team tackled two challenging projects, working at dizzying heights: vertical conveyors were installed in Poland and the Netherlands for corrugated board logistics. The challenge: moving stacks of corrugated board up to 2,4 meters high, measuring 3 x 4 meters wide or long and weighing up to 3,2 tons, to heights of up to ten meters. This required a throughput of up to 60 cycles per hour. The stable and robust design of Baust's welded steel structures proved to be the ideal solution.
Vertical conveyors can lift up to five tons.
Our engineers have installed a link belt or chain conveyor on the lifting platform, tailored to the specific requirements, to ensure gentle and safe transport. A drive power of 15 to 20 kW allows for the effortless movement of payloads up to five tons.
The exciting part was getting the vertical conveyors into the buildings and assembling them on site. The uprights, some up to 13 meters long, were divided into several sections and skillfully erected and assembled on site.
Safe operation of the vertical conveyors
Access control is ensured on every level by fencing, safety light barriers, and high-speed foil doors. For freestanding vertical conveyors without a shaft, complete enclosure is optionally available. A brake safety device on the lifting platform provides additional safety. But even in the event of maintenance or malfunctions, "safety first" applies: Maintenance in the upper area is carried out in a space-saving and ergonomic manner via the accessible lifting platform. A rope system, including a fall arrest device, is installed inside the vertical conveyor for this purpose.
